Our Services

Due to the overwhelming demand for and lack of supply of psychiatric services in their communities, healthcare clinics across rural America are unable to provide the care necessary for many of their patients. As a result, patients are forced to go without the care they need and the overall health and wellness of the community suffers. 1DocWay’s mission is to serve the 80 million Americans living in these rural communities with the highest quality telepsychiatry services, quickly and easily linking them to the psychiatric professionals able to provide the proper care. 1DocWay’s services are easy to implement and fully HIPAA-compliant: any internet-connected computer with a webcam and web browser is all that is required to begin providing the behavioral healthcare these underserved populations desperately need.

1DocWay has partnered with hospitals across the country to provide rural Americans access to the highest quality psychiatric professionals. This means that in addition to meeting the demand for outpatient care in underserved communities, 1DocWay builds relationships between clinics and behavioral health providers that deliver more coordinated care across the continuum of treatments needed in behavioral health. With 1DocWay, an innovative and easy- to-implement solution eliminates the traditional problems caused by mental health disease in rural areas.

Key benefits for community clinics, rural hospitals and primary care clinics:

  • Increase access to psychiatric services available at your facility
  • Expand revenue through telemedicine reimbursement bonuses
  • Improve community health and wellness, addressing mental health co-morbidities
  • Receive grant money for increasing access and delivering high-quality care

1DocWay uses an easily-implemented, HIPAA-compliant, web based software solution to expand hospitals’ patient base. With 1DocWay a hospital can treat patients throughout a much larger geographical area, providing care to underserved populations in desperate need. As a result, strong relationships between a hospital and its surrounding communities are built. These relationships allow hospitals to improve the disease state and wellness in surrounding rural areas, as well as build a hospital’s brand and increase the size of its referral base—creating goodwill and growing the hospital’s revenue.

1DocWay identifies rural care facilities in a hospital’s extended community and determines what services are needed and at what volume. Weekly times for telemedicine sessions are arranged based upon hospital capacity and community need, and the hospital receives a contracted hourly rate from the rural care facility. The process is simple and easy to implement, and provides the hospital a risk-free opportunity to grow its brand, grow its revenue, and provide care to a large population that suffers from a lack of quality mental healthcare.

Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) aim to improve the business model of modern medicine and 1DocWay can help them succeed. Traditionally, hospitals earn revenue on a strictly per service basis—the more services hospitals provide, the more revenue they receive. This creates a hazardous incentive model where unnecessary testing, patient re-admissions and longer stays boost a hospital’s revenues. ACOs have adjusted pricing models to better align the best interests of hospital’s bottom-line with the best interests of its patients. By accepting an upfront fee to provide care throughout the entire course of a patient’s disease/recovery, or by receiving bonuses for minimizing costs and meeting quality benchmarks, hospitals are incentivized to ensure rapid and lasting recovery for their patients and are actually more profitable as a result of keeping their patients healthy and out of the hospital.

1DocWay’s telepsychiatry services offer ACOs a low cost, easy-to-implement solution to better monitor patients once released from the hospital. This connection helps doctors and patients to be more proactive in the recovery process once a patient is released, and helps ensure patient compliance. The Department of Veteran’s Affairs have shown a 25% reduction in bed days, a 19% reduction in hospital admissions and a 56% total utilization reduction for depression as a result of telehealth initiatives. Results such as these are not unique to VA telehealth programs and clearly demonstrate the opportunity for 1DocWay’s services to reduce costs and improve outcomes.

Providing the necessary behavioral health care for nursing home populations presents an enormous challenge. Often times the staff is unequipped to deal with the complexities presented by mental health disease, and as a result patients receive improper care. In many cases patients receive inappropriate medications and disease states worsen. As a result, nursing homes are overspending on medication and the overall wellness of the community suffers.

1DocWay’s low-cost and easy-to-implement telepsychiatry platform gives nursing homes the opportunity to have their residents evaluated by mental health professionals without having to absorb the cost of hiring psychiatrists on their own. As a nursing home, you can tell us how many hours a week you’d like to have psychiatric care available and, through partnerships with nearby psychiatric facilities, we ensure your residents receive the care they need. By providing mental health care to those in need, 1DocWay is able to reduce the cost of overmedicating, improve disease states, and stimulate an increase in overall community wellness.

Key benefits of telepsychiatry for nursing facilities:

  • Decrease number of residents unnecessarily on psychotropic medications
  • Improve patient quality of life and PHQ-9 scores, decreasing ED visits and hospitalizations
  • Reduce spend on medications by taking psychotropic management pressure off GPs and nurses
  • Save on transport spend sending residents to an external psychiatrist
  • Improve overall health outcomes by addressing co-morbidity driven by mental illness
  • Earn additional reimbursement through Medicare reimbursement bonuses for telepsychiatry
